Sexual Health in OBGYN Care

September 4 at 6:00 pm UTC+3

The lecture reviews eight of the most frequently encountered OBGYN presentations with a documented sexual-health dimension: infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, polycystic ovary syndrome, menopause, genital infections, endometriosis/chronic pelvic pain, and urinary incontinence/pelvic floor dysfunction.

For each, the corresponding DSM-5-TR and ICD-11 diagnostic classification is presented alongside condition-specific prevalence data, red-flag indicators warranting referral to a sex therapist, and a synthesis of the evidence supporting psychosexual intervention (including cognitive-behavioral sex therapy, exposure-based treatment, and mindfulness-based approaches).

The session aims to equip OBGYN physicians with a practical, evidence-based screening habit — enabling early identification of sexual dysfunction, appropriate first-line management, and timely referral — while clarifying the scope of psychosexual therapy as a complementary resource within the department’s care pathway.
